Plan Selection Periods: ACOs, MCOs and the PCC Plan

The Plan Selection Period is the annual 90-day period for individuals to enroll in a Managed Care Organization (MCO) or an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).  During this time, members can choose a health plan or switch to a different health plan for any reason.

If you are in the PCC Plan, you can change to an ACO or MCO at any time. If you change to a health plan other than the PCC Plan, you will have Plan Selection and Fixed Enrollment Periods.

The following members can change health plans at any time for any reason:

  • Children who are in the care or custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF)

  • Youth who are in the care or custody of the Department of Youth Services (DYS)Newborns and children who are younger than one year old

  • Members in the PCC Plan can change their plans at any time

If members are in an ACO or an MCO and in their Fixed Enrollment period which begins, they are unable to change their plan, except for certain reasons.  Exceptions to this can be found by visiting Fixed Plan Enrollment Exceptions at
